What is an incursion?

An incursion is an invasion or hostile attack by an outside group or force into a territory or area that is not their own. This can include military incursions where a country's armed forces enter another country's territory, as well as incursions by criminal organizations, terrorist groups, or other hostile entities.

Incursions can be planned and coordinated actions, such as military operations, or they can occur spontaneously or as a result of unexpected events. They can vary in scale and intensity, from small-scale raids or skirmishes to large-scale invasions or attacks.

Incursions can have significant consequences for the affected territory and its inhabitants, including damage to infrastructure, loss of life, displacement of populations, and disruption of normal activities. As a result, incursions are often met with resistance and countermeasures by the targeted group or territory in order to defend against or repel the intruding force.
